We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role plays a critical part in monitoring project costs, supporting operational decision-making, and improving financial visibility across multiple construction projects.

The ideal candidate understands construction accounting, job costing, and project financial analysis within a fast-paced contracting environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and analyze job cost accounting for multiple active construction projects
  • Track project budgets, commitments, actual costs, and forecasted performance
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and variance analyses for management and project teams
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and operations staff to ensure accurate cost tracking
  • Assist with project setup, cost codes, and change order financial tracking
  • Support WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting and revenue recognition
  • Review subcontractor costs, purchase orders, and equipment expenses
  • Identify cost trends, risks, and opportunities for efficiency improvements
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Support audits and internal financial controls
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3–7 years of accounting experience (construction or heavy civil preferred)
  • Strong understanding of job costing and project accounting
  • Experience with construction ERP/accounting systems preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations and field teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Construction industry experience (utilities, infrastructure, or site development)
  • Knowledge of WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Experience supporting project managers or estimating teams
