Senior Accountant

Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This Contract to permanent position involves handling key financial operations, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and audit preparations. The role requires a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and record journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.

- Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to maintain consistency and accuracy.

- Analyze financial statements to identify variances and discrepancies, providing actionable insights.

- Support annual audit activities by compiling requested documentation and assisting with corporate tax returns.

- Manage temporarily restricted funds, ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines.

- Collaborate with the Meetings department to reconcile corporate support and exhibit finances on a quarterly basis.

- Offer accounting assistance during on-site registration for the Annual Meeting as needed.

- Serve as a backup for other Senior Accountants, ensuring seamless operations during absences or peak periods.

- Maintain a high level of accuracy and organization in all financial processes. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting with at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.

- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders.

- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

- Proficiency in Salesforce is preferred, along with expertise in standard business software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a high-pressure environment.

- Willingness to travel occasionally for work-related purposes.

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, adapting to dynamic priorities.
