Bookkeeper

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support day-to-day financial operations for a team in Washington, District of Columbia. This is a Long-term Contract position focused on maintaining accurate records, assisting with invoice handling, applying incoming payments, and tracking outstanding receivables. The ideal candidate brings strong bookkeeping experience and can manage reconciliations while providing dependable administrative support to accounting activities.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices accurately and ensure payments are recorded in a timely manner.

- Apply incoming cash receipts to the appropriate accounts and maintain up-to-date payment records.

- Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow established procedures to help keep collections current.

- Reconcile bank statements and investigate discrepancies to maintain accurate financial data.

- Review and reconcile credit card transactions, ensuring expenses are properly documented and coded.

- Maintain organized financial records and provide administrative support for routine bookkeeping tasks.

- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to support smooth daily accounting operations. Requirements - Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar accounting support role.

- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash application processes.

- Experience performing bank reconciliations and resolving transaction discrepancies.

- Familiarity with credit card reconciliation and financial record maintenance.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage sensitive financial information accurately.

- Proficiency with standard accounting systems and spreadsheet tools.

- Ability to stay organized, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
