I'm currently supporting a mission based client in Washington, DC with their search for an Accounting Specialist to join their Finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys owning the day-to-day accounting process while working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Highlights
  • Hybrid:
    Onsite in the Washington, DC office every Tuesday and Thursday, with one additional Wednesday per month required.
  • Salary: $70,000–$78,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
  • Must be able to work onsite 2–3 days per week.
  • Payroll processing experience using Paylocity is required.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or a similar enterprise accounting system is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, including vendor payments, employee expense reimbursements, travel requests, purchase requests, account coding, and payment processing.
  • Oversee the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, recording receipts, reconciliations, and researching discrepancies.
  • Process full-cycle payroll using Paylocity, ensuring payroll accuracy, tax compliance, employee benefits administration, and timely payroll processing.
  • Administer corporate credit cards, including card issuance, spending limits, reconciliations, and payments.
  • Prepare journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, financial reports, and ad hoc financial analyses.
  • Support payroll tax reporting, W-2 preparation, annual compliance reporting, and audit activities.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate revenue and expense coding and provide support for financial systems and expense management.
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation in accordance with company policies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Hands-on payroll processing experience using Paylocity is required.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or a comparable enterprise accounting system is strongly preferred.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while collaborating across teams.
