Senior Accountant - Washington, DC

Beacon Hill is seeking a Senior Accountant for a nonprofit organization in the Washington, DC area. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close. Prior nonprofit experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Manage month-end and year-end close activities
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain and analyze the general ledger
• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules
• Assist with annual audit preparation and external auditor requests
• Support budget preparation and financial analysis
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
• Collaborate with internal teams on financial reporting and process improvements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Prior nonprofit accounting experience preferred
• Experience working within ERP/accounting systems
• Experience with payroll and HRIS systems is a plus
• Strong Excel skills, including reporting and data analysis
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
