An established and growing professional services organization is seeking a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager to join its collaborative finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a mix of hands-on accounting, financial reporting, process improvement, and cross-functional business support.
Reporting to senior finance leadership, this individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, improving accounting processes, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. The position offers strong visibility across the business and opportunities for continued career growth.
Location: Washington, DC Metro Area (Hybrid)
Compensation: Up to $120,000 plus annual bonus potential

- Manage key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages
- Monitor billing activity, revenue recognition, receivables, and cash collections
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives
- Partner with internal stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
- Assist with audit requests, compliance requirements, and special projects
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting policies and GAAP
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance system utilization
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience managing month-end close processes
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software systems
- CPA designation or CPA-track preferred
- Prior experience in professional services, consulting, business services, or similar environments is a plus
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Experience supporting a growing or evolving organization
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and business analysis
- Previous mentoring, team lead, or supervisory experience
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
