Job Summary
This position is located in the Department of Employment Services (DOES), Office of Unemployment Compensation (OUC). The mission of the Office of Unemployment Compensation is to administer unemployment insurance programs that provide temporary financial assistance to eligible individuals, ensure compliance with program requirements, and support efficient and effective service delivery. The incumbent provides administrative and programmatic support for the day-to‑day operations of the Office of Unemployment Compensation, focusing on areas such as benefits administration, quality assurance, training coordination, and budget monitoring.
DutiesAnd Responsibilities
- Supports quality control initiatives by reviewing processes, identifying gaps, and recommending improvements to enhance program efficiency.
- Coordinating and maintaining training schedules, materials, and records for staff development and compliance purposes.
- Performing budget‑related administrative tasks, including tracking expenditures, preparing reports, and supporting financial reviews.
- Maintaining accurate program documentation and records, ensuring timely data entry and reporting.
- Providing general administrative support, including managing correspondence, scheduling meetings, and assisting with audits and compliance reviews.
- Assists in coordination of special assignments to resolve general management matters and projects related to functional responsibilities.
- Monitors practices and procedures of program staff to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and procedures.
- Participates in analytical studies based on examination of management needs, identifies research and analyzes program issues or problems, and presents results.
- Evaluates current procedures to improve operational efficiency and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Recommends administrative strategies or changes in internal operating procedures to incorporate new requirements, improve, expedite, and eliminate management problems.
- Generates spreadsheets, charts, summary tables, and statistics used in various reports and presentations.
- Provides assistance in tracking data or documents in reference to agency or agency program(s).
- Generates internal and external documents or correspondence that assists in the workflow of the program operation.
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the CS-7 grade level in the District of Columbia government service obtained from the public or private sector. Specialized experience is experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position and has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position such as but not limited to the knowledge of claims processing procedures, benefit eligibility requirements, and related unemployment compensation policies.
Skill in data entry and verification, ensuring accuracy of claimant information and supporting documentation. Knowledge of office systems and workflow management, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other administrative tools. Ability to maintain confidential records and handle sensitive information in compliance with applicable regulations.

Salary: $54,183- $69,770;

Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is not covered by a Collective Bargaining Unit.
Position Designation: This position has been designated as Security sensitive, therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability and as such, incumbents of this position shall be subject to criminal background checks, background investigations, and mandatory drug and alcohol testing, as applicable.
Residency Requirement: Applicants claiming “Residency Preference” will be required to maintain residency in the District of Columbia for a minimum of seven (7) years. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of employment.
