Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Acquisitions & Serials Librarian, the Library Technician II provides technical support by performing a variety of technical procedures in the integrated library system, including updating holdings information and checking e‑resources access issues. Receives and processes physical serials, including maintaining serials and current periodical shelves. The Library Technician II assists in conducting activities and services to ensure goals are accomplished for Earl S.
Richardson Library.
- Assists with the management of electronic resources, including access, support, and evaluation.
- Assists with tracking coverage of electronic resources through online tools, including the library catalog, library system, EBSCONET and database platforms.
- Assists in maintaining access to databases and e‑journals.
- Monitors journal format changes to update catalog records.
- Assists with troubleshooting and problem‑solving of e‑resource product access issues.
- Assists with data‑gathering and analysis for resource renewals and new subscriptions.
- Assists the supervisor on projects (electronic packages, spreadsheets, etc.).
- Updates journal holdings in the library system.
- Makes claims through the library system.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience directly related to the primary duties of the position.
Skills:
Knowledge of an integrated library system preferred. Strong teamwork experiences. Proficiency with computers & relevant software. Effective written, verbal, and active listening skills. Ability to sort and organize library documents and records. Completing multiple tasks simultaneously.
