About the Job
Summary of Position:
Med Star Medical Group is seeking an organized, resourceful, and service-oriented Administrative Assistant to support our Maternal Fetal Medicine team at Med Star Georgetown University Hospital. In this important role, you will provide administrative support to department leaders and physicians, helping ensure that daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional who communicates effectively, manages competing priorities with ease, and enjoys contributing to a collaborative healthcare environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to department leadership and physicians, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, maintaining staff schedules, distributing mail, and assisting with licensing and credentialing activities.
- Coordinate meetings and events by reserving space, arranging virtual access and refreshments, preparing agendas and materials, recording minutes, and following up on action items.
- Prepare and manage professional correspondence, presentations, memoranda, policies, forms, reports, and other departmental documents while maintaining accurate filing and recordkeeping systems.
- Answer and route telephone calls, respond to routine inquiries, and provide courteous, professional service to patients, staff, providers, and other callers.
- Support departmental operations by entering data, compiling financial or statistical information, coordinating travel and expense reimbursements, and ordering supplies within established guidelines.
- Assist with special projects, provide backup support to office colleagues, and participate in departmental meetings, outreach initiatives, and quality and service-improvement efforts.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Business coursework, administrative or secretarial training, or an associate degree is preferred. An appropriate combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered.
- 2+ years clerical/office experience preferably in a healthcare setting supporting a leader/administrative function is required.
- Transcription and typing skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of word processing spreadsheet and presentation software applications in a Windows environment.
- High level of professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills and good telephone etiquette.
This position has a hiring range of USD $20.57 - USD $36.27 /Hr.
