The salary for this position corresponds to Grade P01, Step 1, in accordance with Staff Rule 103.3 Initial Salary: (a) A staff member on initial appointment shall be placed in the first step of the grade of post, without exemption. (b) This rule does not apply to a staff member who is already employed by the General Secretariat and is selected, promoted, demoted, reassigned, or otherwise transferred to a different post.

In such cases, salary shall be determined in accordance with the applicable provisions of these Staff Rules.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is an entry-level, professional position designed to contribute to specific projects and/or activities in the fulfillment of a departmental mission, and is assigned all or part of the following responsibilities (

these responsibilities and expected results are standardized, and are not necessarily performed by all):

  • 1.Provide support in the development and strengthening of relations with key institutions and organizations according to the project area, including but not limited to: the organization and coordination of meetings, conferences, presentations, events and seminars; following-up on the development of joint activities at the local and regional levels, researching information and drafting reports.
  • 2.Research and synthesize information, participating in the elaboration of publications documenting the work of the department towards facilitating the systematization of methodologies and conceptual frameworks and their dissemination among scholars, practitioners and other interested parties.
  • 3.Support the organization of fact-finding and needs assessment.
  • 4.Participate in the formulation and execution of projects, programs, activities and events related to the area of work.
  • 5.Support the execution and accounts of assigned activities and projects, processing and following-up on administrative and financial actions, including assisting in hiring human resources, purchasing equipment and supplies, travel arrangements, etc.
  • 6.Support and participate in various initiatives in furtherance of the project, including, but not limited to, drafting, reviewing and editing for consistency and language, correspondence, reports, proposals and joint proposals, budgets, financial reports, work plans, and documents and publications, researching information, as well as maintaining various databases relating to the project.
  • 7.Research and identify potential training seminars and other programs, obtaining information regarding their requirements, operations and procedures, drafting proposals and following-up on such, as appropriate.
  • 8.As required, provide support in the planning, fundraising, implementation and evaluation of missions, programs, projects and activities at Headquarters and in the field, e.g. preparing/ ensuring the preparation of documentation and logistical arrangements for personnel traveling from/to country projects and programs.
  • 9.Perform other related duties as assigned, including replacing and/or backstopping for others.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Essential:
First University Degree (Bachelor) in Political Science, International Relations, Public Management or related fields issued by a duly accredited institution AND 1 year of relevant experience, including internship(s) in similar positions at national and/or international level.

Desirable:
Experience or knowledge of the OAS mandates and priorities as related to the area of work and/or the dynamics of the Inter-American agenda and system.

COMPUTER

SKILLS:

Ability to effectively work using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other applications such as Oracle, Visio, Access, Share Point) and software applicable to the area of work.
