Reliance One, Inc. is partnering with a global manufacturing organization to identify a Trade Compliance Senior Specialist responsible for leading regional customs strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving process improvements across North American operations.
This is a highly visible role working cross-functionally with supply chain, logistics, finance, and external partners to support efficient and compliant international trade operations.
Key Responsibilities Customs Strategy & ComplianceDevelop and execute regional trade compliance strategies, oversee broker relationships, and support daily import/export operations and shipment clearance.
Process Improvement & Risk ManagementLead initiatives to enhance reconciliation processes, manage Importer Security Filing (ISF), and assess risk related to new and evolving trade regulations.
Supplier & Customer ManagementOversee supplier qualification processes, manage escalations, and support initiatives related to duty optimization and customer-specific requirements.
Regulatory & Audit SupportRespond to CBP inquiries, manage penalties and disclosures, and support internal and external audits to ensure full compliance with U.S. and Canadian customs regulations.
Training & ReportingDeliver internal training on free trade agreements and compliance requirements, manage ACE/CARM accounts, and develop KPI reporting to track performance and risk.
Qualifications- 5+ years of experience in customs, trade compliance, or international logistics
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Logistics, International Trade, or related field
- Professional certification (e.g., CCS, LCB, or equivalent) preferred
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canadian customs regulations and free trade agreements (USMCA, etc.)
- Experience with process improvement, project management, and compliance systems
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Willingness to travel as needed to support regional operations
