Exo Talent Partners is supporting a confidential search for a Director of Business Development to drive opportunity creation and customer engagement across defense, space, and national security programs for a mission-focused technology organization.

This role is responsible for identifying, shaping, and advancing new business opportunities in partnership with capture, engineering, and executive leadership. The position reports into senior growth leadership and plays a critical role in long-term pipeline development and market expansion.

This opportunity is ideal for a business development leader who understands government and prime contractor ecosystems and can operate credibly with mission owners, acquisition stakeholders, and internal teams.

What You’ll Own
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with government customers, primes, and industry partners
  • Identify and qualify new opportunities aligned to mission needs and organizational priorities
  • Shape opportunities early in the acquisition lifecycle, prior to formal solicitations
  • Partner closely with capture leadership to transition qualified opportunities into executable pursuits
  • Provide market intelligence and customer insight to inform growth strategy
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline visibility and opportunity forecasting
  • Represent the organization with credibility in customer and partner engagements

What We’re Looking For
  • 8–12+ years of experience in business development supporting defense, space, or national security programs
  • Demonstrated ability to shape opportunities within U.S. Government or prime contractor environments
  • Strong understanding of DoD and/or Intelligence Community acquisition processes
  • Executive presence and ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Judgment to qualify opportunities rigorously, not chase volume
Additional Information
  • Active or previously held U.S. security clearance strongly preferred
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support customer engagement
