Construction Estimator

About the Role

SL Recruit is actively seeking an experienced Estimator for a reputable and growing commercial General Contractor in the Washington, DC area. This company has a strong pipeline of ground-up and renovation projects across the District and is looking for a detail-oriented estimator who can take ownership of pricing from conceptual budgeting through GMP development.

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial projects
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and proposal documents
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
• Develop conceptual budgets and value engineering options
• Assist with bid leveling, scope review, and subcontractor selection
• Participate in preconstruction meetings and client presentations
• Maintain cost databases and historical pricing records
• Support project handoff to operations team

• 3+ years of estimating experience with a commercial GC or subcontractor
• Experience with projects ranging from $2M–$30M+
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and local market pricing
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Procore, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar software
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong communication and organizational skills
