Field Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry‑Level Field Engineer to join our growing team at J L Terrell Construction. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the on‑site execution of construction projects by ensuring that all engineering and technical aspects are carried out in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and safety standards. As an entry‑level position, you will receive guidance and mentorship from senior engineers, providing opportunities for hands‑on learning and career growth in the construction industry.

• Assist in the management and coordination of day‑to‑day operations on construction sites.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to verify work is being completed according to design and safety standards.
• Document and report any discrepancies or issues encountered on‑site to the senior engineering team.
• Support the preparation of project schedules, progress reports, and daily logs.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Help manage and monitor the quality control and safety protocols at the construction site.
• Participate in the development of field reports, including photos, measurements, and other necessary documentation.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of various construction systems and equipment.
• Provide technical support for construction teams, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and provide updates on field activities.

• An Associate/BS degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• At least 6 months of experience in construction, design, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Plan Grid, Procore, and Sage 300 Timberline, with the expectation to become proficient within the first 6 months.
• Strong organizational skills and great attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Excel and all MS Office programs.
• Excellent and proactive communication skills (written, phone, and in‑person).
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, vendors, architects, designers, and the community.
