Goldin & Stafford, one of the premier Excavation and Demolition Contractors serving the DC Metropolitan region, is seeking an energetic and motivated Senior Estimator to join our team.

The Senior Estimator plays a key leadership role in preparing accurate, competitive bids while mentoring junior estimators and contributing to strategic bid decisions. This position requires strong analytical skills, advanced plan-reading ability, and the capacity to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for excavation, demolition, and site development projects
  • Review bid drawings (Civil, Architectural, Structural, etc.) to determine full scope of work
  • Analyze Geotechnical and Environmental Reports for soil conditions, risk factors, and cost impacts
  • Perform and/or oversee quantitative take-offs using AGTEK software
  • Develop bid strategies in collaboration with executive leadership
  • Review and define General Contractor work scopes as estimates are assembled
  • Contact General Contractors to clarify scope and secure final estimate details
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Attend jobsite walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings
  • Identify potential risks and value engineering opportunities
  • Mentor and support junior estimators
  • Manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of project folders prior to turnover to Project Management
  • Print, scan, distribute, and organize project documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of estimating experience in excavation, demolition, or heavy civil construction
  • Strong understanding of Civil and Structural plans and construction processes
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex bids independently
  • Advanced plan reading and scope interpretation skills
  • Strong arithmetic and analytical skills for quantitative analysis
  • AGTEK experience required (AutoCAD or related software a plus)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including formulas and data analysis)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attend jobsite walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Leadership or mentoring experience preferred
