We are seeking an experienced Concrete Superintendent to lead and oversee field operations for a growing concrete subcontractor. This role is responsible for supervising crews, coordinating with general contractors and other trades, and ensuring all concrete work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate has extensive hands‑on field experience in structural and flatwork concrete, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple pours and crews simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities Field Operations & Supervision- Manage day‑to‑day field activities for cast‑in‑place concrete projects
- Supervise foremen, crew members, and subcontracted labor
- Coordinate layout, forming, reinforcing, embeds, and concrete placement activities
- Ensure work is performed according to drawings, specifications, and project schedules
- Plan and oversee multiple pours, including foundations, slabs, walls, columns, decks, and site concrete
- Work closely with Project Managers to develop short‑term and long‑term schedules
- Coordinate with General Contractors and other trades to maintain workflow
- Identify and proactively resolve field conflicts and delays
- Ensure manpower and equipment levels are aligned with project demands
- Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards
- Oversee proper forming, rebar placement, finishing, and curing processes
- Conduct pre‑pour inspections and participate in third‑party inspections
- Ensure accurate layout and elevations
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards
- Conduct daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of equipment
- Maintain clean and organized job sites
- Monitor labour productivity and report daily production quantities
- Assist with tracking materials, equipment usage, and job costs
Identify potential change order work and communicate to Project Manager - Minimize waste and maximize efficiency in the field
- 7+ years of concrete construction experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
- Strong background in structural concrete and flatwork
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proven leadership and crew management skills
- Knowledge of concrete forming systems, rebar placement, finishing techniques, and curing methods
- Familiarity with layout tools and survey equipment
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
- Experience with tilt‑wall or post‑tension concrete systems
- OSHA 30 certification
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Experience working on commercial, multifamily, industrial, or public projects
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to work extended hours when required by project schedules
