Assistant Project Manager (Construction Advisory & Program Management) Do you thrive in complex construction environments where success depends on strong relationships, sound judgment, and the ability to keep projects moving forward?

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid) 2-3 days on-site per week.

The Opportunity

At Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D), we lead the planning, development, and management of the places that shape and strengthen communities—where people live, learn, work, and play. B&D partners with institutions, municipalities, and organizations to shape and deliver complex real estate and capital projects, providing strategic insight and end-to-end advisory services across the full project lifecycle.

B&D recently joined forces with Project Management Advisors, bringing together two nationally recognized leaders in program management and real estate advisory services. Together, the combined firm offers expanded capabilities across industries and throughout the full project lifecycle—from early-stage strategy and planning through execution and beyond.

In this role, you will support the delivery of complex capital improvement and construction projects for public and institutional clients. You'll work alongside experienced project leaders to manage budgets, schedules, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders while serving as a trusted advisor focused on project success.

This is not a role for someone who waits for direction. We're looking for a proactive professional who anticipates challenges, builds relationships, solves problems, and helps keep projects moving forward.

How You'll Contribute

Support the management of multiple construction and capital improvement projects from planning through implementation.

Assist clients in achieving project goals related to schedule, budget, quality, and stakeholder expectations.

Review construction budgets, schedules, contracts, project documentation, and consultant deliverables.

Monitor project progress through site visits, coordination meetings, and construction observations.

Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams to support successful project execution.

Develop client-facing reports, presentations, budgets, schedules, and other project deliverables.

Support procurement activities, consultant selection processes, permitting, and project approvals.

Identify project risks, analyze issues, and develop practical recommendations and solutions.

Perform quality control reviews to ensure deliverables are accurate, complete, and delivered on time.

Contribute to business development, professional development, and thought leadership initiatives.

Leadership Responsibilities

Coordinate the day-to-day activities of project team members, consultants, and external partners.

Provide guidance and mentorship to project analysts and interns assigned to project teams.

Foster strong collaboration among project stakeholders while maintaining accountability and project momentum.

Demonstrate ownership, initiative, and sound judgment when navigating project challenges.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, urban planning, real estate, economics, or a related field.

3–5 years of experience supporting planning, design, construction, owner's representation, program management, or related project delivery work.

Understanding of construction processes, project controls, budgeting, scheduling, and consultant coordination.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the project region as needed.

Demonstrated commitment to client service, collaboration, and professional growth.
