Commercial Construction Assistant Superintendent – Gov Cloud
Assists the superintendent in managing workflow consistent with the project schedule, communicating project priorities to field staff and subcontractors, maintaining daily logs and reports of all activities and site conditions, and managing the punch list and closeout process through owner/architect acceptance. Responsible for administering the HITT safety program, reporting accidents/incidents, and assisting in safety inspections by outside agencies. Supports planning, organizing, directing, and controlling building aspects of each project to meet budget, quality, time, and safety objectives.
Responsibilities- Work with the project manager to formulate the project schedule, ensure proper methods and sequence are followed, and pursue schedule commitments.
- Maintain HITT quality standards for all project aspects.
- Maintain good working relationships with all subcontractors, develop community relationships that enhance business opportunities, and ensure subcontractors are treated fairly.
- Ensure complete, accurate daily documentation of work orders and tickets, understand subcontractor scope to avoid unnecessary change orders, and identify problems early to provide solutions.
- Develop and organize the site team, arrange temporary facilities and utilities, and identify long‑lead items requiring expediting.
- High school diploma required; a four‑year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction, engineering, or business strongly preferred.
- 2–5 years of commercial construction experience, including tenant renovations, service work, work in occupied spaces, weekend work, and fast‑paced project experience; project lead experience a plus.
- Proficiency in sector/project‑specific software including Microsoft Office suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Pro Core, Adobe, Blue Beam; OSHA
30 certification preferred. - Ability to walk/stand for long periods and lift up to 50lbs.
- Strong communication skills: clear, concise, professional written and verbal; positive attitude and passion for construction; data gathering and interpretation; organization and prioritization; integrity in line with The HITT Way and core values; continuous improvement; flexibility with evolving technology and methods; collaboration across diverse backgrounds; relationship building with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and vendors; punctual, engaged, respectful conduct.
In accordance with Virginia Senate Bill
215 (SB215), the base salary range for this position is $79,200.00 – $; compensation may vary by location.
