Electrical Estimator

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for residential, commercial, and industrial electrical projects. This role involves reviewing project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs. The Electrical Estimator works closely with project managers, vendors, clients, and contractors to ensure estimates are complete, cost-effective, and aligned with project requirements while supporting all phases of the project lifecycle.

Estimating & Bidding:
Prepare accurate cost estimates for residential, commercial, and industrial electrical projects. Develop labor, material, equipment, and overall project cost estimates.

Scope Review & Takeoffs:
Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope. Perform quantity takeoffs and detailed material calculations.

Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination:
Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations. Maintain estimating databases and update pricing information.

Bid Submissions & Tracking:
Prepare bid proposals and submit documentation to management for review. Attend pre-bid meetings as required. Track bids and prepare weekly bid status reports.

Change Orders & Pre-Construction:
Coordinate with project managers on change orders, ASIs, bulletins, and project pricing. Assist with pre-construction activities including project setup, schedule of values, and material procurement.

Handoff &

Collaboration:

Support project turnover meetings and post-construction reviews. Collaborate effectively with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal teams throughout the estimating process.

Education:

High School Diploma required. Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Trade/Technical Certification in a related field preferred.

Experience:

Experience in electrical estimating, electrical contracting, or construction estimating preferred.

Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems, building codes, and specs.

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and building codes.

Experience with cost estimating, budgeting, and bid preparation.

Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
