Procon seeks an experienced night shift Superintendent to support construction activities in a highly secure, occupied historic federal facility in downtown Washington, DC. The superintendent will work closely with the General Contractor, federal stakeholders, trade subcontractors, and project team to safely execute after-hours renovation and construction work while minimizing disruption to building occupants and maintaining strict security, quality, and schedule requirements.

This role requires a field-focused construction professional with demonstrated experience leading subcontractors, conducting coordination meetings, communicating project status, and managing work in secure federal government environments. An active Top Secret security clearance is required.

The selected individual will work primarily during night time and after-hours construction periods and may be required to work weekends or holidays depending on project needs. The role requires regular presence in active construction areas and the ability to walk the site, climb stairs, inspect work in constrained spaces, and use appropriate personal protective equipment. This role requires various skills and experience as listed below.

Qualifications

and Skills
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in construction supervision, field management, or a Superintendent role.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with a General Contractor on commercial, institutional, federal, or complex renovation projects.
  • Experience supervising and coordinating multiple subcontractor trades, including sequencing work within active and occupied facilities.
  • Federal government construction experience, including secure-site access, project documentation, stakeholder coordination, and facility operational requirements.
  • Demonstrated occupied-renovation experience, preferably within mission-critical, high-security, or continuously operating facilities.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance required, with the ability to maintain clearance eligibility throughout employment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, trade coordination, quality control, jobsite safety, scheduling, and field documentation.
  • Proven ability to lead meetings, communicate with diverse stakeholders, and resolve field issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Ability to work night shifts and adjust work hours based on project operations, security requirements, and construction schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience preparing daily reports, meeting notes, and field correspondence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Relevant construction management or Superintendent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with historic federal facilities, protected or landmarked buildings, and historic preservation requirements preferred.
  • Experience supporting federal agencies, GSA-managed facilities, or other secure government environments.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred.
  • Experience with construction scheduling tools, Procore or similar project management systems, and electronic daily reporting platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of MEP systems, life-safety systems, temporary conditions, shutdown coordination, and commissioning-related activities preferred.
  • Strong field leadership, construction supervision, and subcontractor management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with contractors, client representatives, building occupants, and security personnel.
  • Ability to prioritize competing activities and make sound, timely decisions in an active construction environment.
