ARX USA is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to support the delivery of infrastructure and heavy civil construction projects across the United States.

The ARE will assist with field construction oversight, contract administration, project documentation, contractor coordination, schedule and cost monitoring, and quality compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with resident engineers, project managers, inspectors, contractors, designers, and client representatives.

The ideal candidate will combine hands‑on construction experience with practical knowledge of quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, payment verification, and change‑order evaluation.

This position is appropriate for a construction professional ready to take on increasing responsibility under the guidance of senior construction management personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities

Construction Oversight

  • Support daily construction oversight and field coordination activities.
  • Observe construction activities and verify general compliance with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and approved procedures.
  • Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, designers, utility representatives, and client personnel.
  • Identify field issues and assist the project team in developing practical resolutions.
  • Participate in progress, coordination, safety, quality, and construction meetings.
  • Help coordinate inspection coverage and review field documentation.
  • Support project closeout, punch‑list, testing, and final documentation activities.

Contract Administration

  • Review and track submittals, requests for information, shop drawings, and other construction documents.
  • Assist with reviewing contractor schedules, short‑term look‑ahead schedules, and construction sequencing.
  • Maintain accurate daily records, correspondence, logs, photographs, and progress reports.
  • Assist with reviewing contractor payment applications and verifying completed quantities.
  • Support the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly construction reports.
  • Maintain logs for RFIs, submittals, change orders, nonconformance items, and project decisions.

Estimating and Cost Control

  • Prepare and review quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates.
  • Assist with independent cost estimates and engineer's estimates.
  • Review contractor pricing, labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor quotations, and production assumptions.
  • Assist with evaluating change‑order proposals and time‑and‑material work.
  • Track installed quantities, project costs, budget status, and potential cost impacts.
