Associate Breaking News Editor

The Washington Examiner is seeking an Associate Editor to join our fast-paced Breaking News team. This is a critical role, responsible for ensuring we are first and accurate on the most important stories of the day.

• Monitor news wires, social media, and other sources to identify breaking news events.
• Assigning reporters and help coordinate coverage.
• Ensure accuracy and speed in all breaking news reporting.
• Collaborate with other editors and reporters to provide comprehensive coverage of major events.
• Optimize breaking news content for search engines and social media.
• Stay up-to-date on current events and trends in politics, policy, and culture.
• Working flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field.
• At least two years of experience in breaking news reporting or editing.
• Strong news judgment and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Deep understanding of digital journalism and social media.
• Experience managing a team of reporters.
