Position: Specialist, Digital Media (Temp. to Perm.)

The League of Women Voters (LWV) is seeking a creative, detail‑oriented Specialist, Digital Media to support daily content creation, social publishing, and brand visibility across LWVUS digital platforms. This role is an excellent opportunity for early‑career communicators passionate about democracy, storytelling, design, and youth‑centered digital culture.

The Specialist, Digital Media helps strengthen LWV’s voice and the visibility of its staff as trusted thought leaders in the democracy and voting rights space. The position plays a vital role in engaging younger and digitally savvy audiences through compelling visual content, timely social media storytelling, and strong brand alignment. The Specialist collaborates across departments and supports the operational backbone of LWV’s email engagement strategy, ensuring messages are accurate, on time, and optimized.

This role is funded through June 30, 2026, and is designed as an opportunity for a high‑performing candidate to demonstrate impact, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent position based on performance and organizational needs.

Essential Responsibilities Content Creation & Design
  • Create engaging graphics, visual assets, and short‑form content for Instagram, Tik Tok, Linked In, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, and emerging platforms.
  • Support video editing for Reels and Tik Tok using accessible editing tools.
  • Assist in preparing content for campaigns, rapid response communication, and organizational initiatives.
Social Media Publishing & Coordination
  • Support day‑to‑day social publishing in coordination with the Digital Content team.
  • Draft, schedule, and format posts using LWV brand and accessibility standards.
  • Help maintain visual and written consistency across all digital platforms.
Monitoring & Engagement
  • Track platform engagement metrics and contribute weekly insights to improve reach and impact.
  • Monitor trends in civic storytelling, youth engagement, digital culture, and platform algorithms—and surface recommendations.
Collaboration & Support
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for digital campaigns and content series.
  • Work closely with Communications team members to enhance organizational visibility, brand alignment, and message accuracy.
Requirements EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 1–2 years of experience in digital communications, social media management, graphic design, or related work, or equivalent experience gained through internships, campus organizations, volunteer roles, or freelance content creation.

Skills And Abilities

Required
  • Proficiency with Canva and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or comparable design and editing tools.
  • Hands‑on experience using Instagram, Tik Tok, Linked In, and emerging social platforms in a professional, academic, or organizational context.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially regarding formatting, branding, and accessibility.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, juggle multiple tasks, and contribute in a fast‑moving digital environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in civic engagement, democracy, elections, or social impact communications strongly preferred.
  • Portfolio samples — professional, academic, or independent — are highly recommended.
