Your New Role

CNN is looking for a Director of Product Design for our Streaming product. The CNN Engagement team recently launched the All-Access Streaming service and will now be executing to elevate the video content experiences to meet the future of CNND, delight and engage both current and growth users and improve user satisfaction. As the Director

of Product Design, you will manage a team of 10ft product designers. You will partner closely with design directors for web and mobile apps to ensure a cohesive user experience across platforms, and you will partner with the Sr Director of Product for Streaming on evolving and codifying the vision and future of the product.

Your Role Accountabilities
  • You will be an integral part of CNN’s Engagement team, steering and communicating the vision for CNN’s Streaming product that will drive CNN’s subscription business.
  • You will be an integral part of CNN’s Product Design team, partnering with other design leaders across CNN, working to further design excellence and processes across teams.
  • You will foster a deep collaborative culture and promote partnership with cross‑functional leads and senior leadership to synthesize and translate strategic initiatives into best‑in‑class product experiences.
  • You will manage a team of product designers to identify user needs, produce cutting‑edge user experiences, conduct rapid prototyping to iteratively test and validate product features and proof of concepts.
  • You will guide the overall design vision, partnering with User Research and Analytics data, to develop a deep understanding of how users engage, what matters to them, and identify pain points.
  • You understand the media landscape, and you are innovative, and committed to pushing the boundaries of CNN.
  • You will empower and mentor your design team; foster a cohesive, committed, passionate, productive, and positive environment; champion new ideas, and work towards the highest caliber of craft and best‑in‑class experiences.
  • Conduct rapid prototyping to iteratively test and validate product features and proof of concepts.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 10+ years' related work experience leading design in Digital Media/Technology companies, preferably in the 10ft space; 5+ years managing and building teams of designers.
  • Deep understanding of connected TV technologies.
  • Expertise in Figma, prototyping and a deep knowledge of utilizing design systems; extensive experience in program management tools such as Confluence and Jira.
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, and a proven track record of executing a design vision and influencing cross‑functionally.
  • Data‑driven, with extensive experience testing and refining to continually improve upon metrics.
  • Mastery of best UX design practices, including usability principles, user research methodologies and testing techniques.
  • Bachelor's degree in design, human‑computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
