Overview

Med Star Medical Group Anesthesiology (MMGA) seeks a full‑time anesthesiologist specializing in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine to work at Med Star Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. Our Acute Pain Service is an ever‑growing part of our practice, focusing on peripheral nerve and neuraxial catheter placement, improving patient experience, and minimizing opioid utilisation. MMGA maintains a robust regional anesthesia program with over 1,200 blocks per year and a multimodal analgesia protocol for spine, transplant, orthopedic, and plastic surgery patients.

Med Star Georgetown University Hospital is a not‑for‑profit, acute‑care teaching and research hospital with 609 beds in northwest Washington, DC, and is known for excellence in neurosciences, transplants, cancer, and gastroenterology.

Responsibilities
  • Perform peripheral nerve and neuraxial catheter placements for orthopedic, plastic, spine, and transplant procedures.
  • Develop and implement multimodal analgesia protocols within the Acute Pain Service.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient experience and reduce opioid use.
  • Provide acute pain management education and mentorship to residents and fellows.
Qualifications
  • Board‑eligible or board‑certified anesthesiologist.
  • Completed or currently enrolled in a regional anesthesia fellowship or regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine fellowship.
  • Experience with regional blocks and pain medicine.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a teaching environment.

Compensation

Hiring range: $430,000 – $460,000.
