Postdoctoral Associate – TRiALS

Join the George Washington University and the NSF Institute for Trustworthy AI in Law and Society (TRiALS) to conduct interdisciplinary research on AI trust and trustworthiness.

• Design, organize, and conduct advanced experiments using established scientific protocols, troubleshoot and develop new protocols.
• Summarize findings and publish results in peer‑reviewed journals under faculty supervision.
• Collaborate with TRAILS researchers and the broader GWU, UMD, and MSU communities to develop a research agenda.
• Co‑mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and contribute to TRAILS community activities (seminar series, grant writing, NSF interactions).

• Recent completion of a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated research ability with at least two conference or journal publications.
• Experience working in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
• Strong communication skills and evidence of teaching/mentoring.
• Ability to collaborate with at least two faculty in GWU and align research agenda.

Expected duration: 1 year (1‑ or 2‑year fellowships available, flexible start dates)

Salary Range: $62,232 – $89,250
