DescriptionThe Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Georgetown University ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in Mathematics. The position will start on August 1, 2026 and is expected to last two years. In addition to research, the postdoc will have teaching responsibilities consisting of one course per semester.
Research Areas and Desired Background- Research on the dynamics of nonlinear dispersive equations, completely integrable PDE, and fluids. Applicants are required to have a strong background in analysis and PDE. Experience with probabilistic and/or computational aspects of nonlinear PDE is highly desirable.
- Research in the analysis and control of linear and nonlinear hyperbolic systems of PDE, in particular Maxwell's equations. Candidates should have a strong background in PDE and functional analysis.
Applicants must have received a Ph.D. in mathematics, applied mathematics, or a relevant field by August 1, 2026. Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching both lower and upper division mathematics classes.

SalaryThe projected salary range for this position is $59,750.46 - $67,789.40. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
