Housed within CPS, the Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) delivers hands‑on education establishing superior standards of real‑world strategies and resources. The school offers three graduate degree programs:
Legislative Affairs, Political Management, and Public Relations and Communications, along with stackable certificates. This entry‑level position provides integral academic support and direction for CPS and GSPM students navigating their academic journey. It serves as an information hub for students and provides internal and external resources and opportunities for students. This position assists students with navigating transitions, exploring options, overcoming challenges, and developing academic plans by individual appointments and group sessions. This role masters knowledge and understanding of GW rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and academic curriculum, tracks and manages student records, develops, maintains, and enhances internal projects that further student success, and enhances programming for specific student populations to ensure student success and support students' individual/specific needs.
This position supports events such as orientation and graduation, maintains student records from matriculation to graduation, and monitors and responds to student inquiries for transfer credit, leave of absence, and registration.
- Advise students from orientation through graduation.
- Communicate with students about program requirements and opportunities.
- Monitor students' progress. Conduct degree audits and process graduation clearances.
- Participate in a committee, project, or working group about new student orientation, the student experience, curriculum, graduation, or advising operations.
- Assist with reports to track student progress and retention.
- Develop or enhance programming and support relevant student events.
- Assist students, faculty, and staff with inquiries regarding registration, grade appeals, petitions, transfer credit review, account questions, and admissions and financial aid actions.
- Maintain a positive and constructive demeanor, treating all staff, students, faculty, and campus visitors with professionalism, courtesy, and respect.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position, including supporting any program within CPS.
