    • Design and teach challenging, engaging lessons informed by instructional data.
    • Review student data individually and with department or grade‑level teams to plan for reteaching and follow‑up lessons.
    • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and team meetings.
    • Mentor a Capital Teaching Resident, if assigned, by modeling effective teaching, gradually releasing responsibilities, and implementing weekly coaching and feedback conversations.

  • Other Information & Requirements
    • Teachers are on duty Monday‑Friday 7:30‑5:00 pm two times a week and 7:30‑4:00 pm three times a week.
    • Perform clerical duties related to textbooks, supplies, student reports, and records.
    • Perform morning, lunch, and afternoon duties as assigned.
    • Pass required background checks under the School Safety Omnibus Amendment Act of 2018.
    • Additional responsibilities may arise during the school year, including staff and student field trips, open houses, conferences, and events with notice.
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree (Required)
    • Commitment to working with students from communities with limited access to quality educational opportunities (Required)
    • At least two years of teaching experience in PreK3‑12 or a degree with student teaching experience (Required)
    • Bachelor’s degree in a content area (Preferred)
    • Experience or strengths in a content area (Preferred)
    Compensation & Benefits
    • Teacher salaries are exempt and start at $65,500, increasing with experience. Teachers can earn up to $5,000 in renewal add‑ons each year they return to KIPP DC.
