We are looking for a Civil Engineer to help plan, design, and oversee projects that support ports and related facilities. This includes work on any infrastructure that supports ports, transportation and shipping facilities.
What You’ll Do
- Work on a variety of port and transportation-related construction projects
- Help review project schedules, scopes of work and engineering specifications
- Review project plans and documents to make sure they meet engineering standards
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and partners to keep projects on track
- Look for design solutions that are practical, cost-effective, and efficient
- Review and evaluate drawings, cost estimates, and timelines
- Conduct risk assessments and review project studies and reports
- Review and evaluate grant applications and project progress reports
- Analyze plans for new port facilities such as docks, warehouses, rail and road access, and cargo handling systems
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- At least 5 years of experience working on infrastructure or large civil works projects, within the federal sector
- Experience with marine, road, bridge, rail, or other transportation projects preferred.
- Experience working with federal or state-funded projects
- Solid knowledge of how transportation infrastructure is planned, designed, built, and maintained
- Ability to interpret, evaluate, and summarize complex issues relating to civil engineering related to the planning, execution, and administration of Federally sponsored transportation infrastructure projects and generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
- Experience reviewing grants for ports is highly desirable
Requirements
- Must be willing to be in the office 5 days/week into Washington DC
- Cannot provide relocation, must be local to the DMV
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
