Junior Ship Structural Engineer

Overview

Employer Industry: Defense and Maritime Engineering

• Use AutoCAD to develop structural drawings for ship structures and equipment foundations
• Collaborate with structural engineers and other disciplines to create accurate structural designs
• Attend ship checks to gather necessary information for drawing development
• Apply structural formulas to ensure the strength of designs
• Document methods, assumptions, and results in detailed reports

• Bachelor s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field
• Experience drafting basic, to-scale layout drawings using AutoCAD
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
• Detail-oriented with good analytical skills
• U.S. Citizenship and security clearance eligibility

• Experience or internship in the marine or defense industry, such as with the US Navy or USCG
• Knowledge of marine rules, standards, and codes
• Proficiency with 3-D CAD software, such as Solidworks
• Experience performing ship calculations (e.g., weights and moments) or structural design/calculations
