Silver Back is recruiting on behalf of a client for an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to support a major hyperscale data center project in Washington, DC. This role focuses on the commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical and HVAC systems essential to data center performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment submittals, and project specifications.
- Lead the commissioning of chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, adiabatic coolers, and BAS systems.
- Perform L2 inspections, L3 pre-functional checks, and support L4/L5 system testing.
- Troubleshoot issues during commissioning and manage them through a formal issue-tracking process.
- Prepare and maintain commissioning reports and documentation for client handover.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of Mechanical Commissioning experience, preferably in mission-critical or data center environments.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, cooling technologies, and mechanical infrastructure.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
- Experience coordinating testing activities with contractors and vendors.
- Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering is a plus (not mandatory) and/or relevant craft background and experience.
- Must be willing to travel up to 75% of the time.
