Silver Back is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to support a major hyperscale data center project in the Washington DC area. This role focuses on the commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical and HVAC systems essential to data center performance.

Role Summary

As a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, you will be a key member of the Commissioning Authority (CxA) team, responsible for ensuring that mission-critical mechanical systems are tested and delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Execution: Perform and document L2 equipment inspections and L3 pre-functional checks; actively participate in L4 functional performance tests and L5 integrated systems tests (IST).
  • Technical Review: Review mechanical design drawings, P&IDs, equipment submittals, and specifications for systems including chillers, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH units, and BAS.
  • Issue Management: Identify and troubleshoot mechanical system deficiencies, managing them through formal tracking processes and coordinating resolutions with vendors.
  • Documentation: Maintain daily/weekly commissioning reports and ensure all field activities are accurately documented for project handover.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Demonstrable experience in mechanical engineering, construction, or commissioning.
  • Industry Expertise: Previous experience in Data Centers or Commissioning projects is highly preferred.
  • Travel: Ability to travel to project locations up to 75% of the time.
  • Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the United States.
