Five Nines Company has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineer/Commissioning Specialist primarily in the Washington DC, Northern VA and Maryland areas. The desirable candidate will be able to independently manage and execute the required commissioning (Cx) services from concept through completion. Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Review Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) designs and specifications. Document deficiencies and recommend solutions
  • Develop Owner Project Requirements, Cx Plans, Pre‑Functional Checklists, Functional Performance Tests, Cx Report and other Cx documentation as required
  • Lead Cx team and work closely with client/owner to ensure project success
  • Perform inspections, lead Cx meetings, review submittals
  • Witness and verify testing of MEP systems
  • Manage Cx projects including profitability, change orders, and schedule
  • Assist with RFP responses and proposal/technical writing
  • Attend pre‑bid meetings and industry events as needed
  • Travel 25% (domestic and foreign)
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 yrs. commissioning or related experience
  • Capability to obtain certification as CxA or CxT through AABC Commissioning Group (ACG)
  • Experience reading MEP designs, controls and mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Ability to work independently and manage project schedules
  • Effectively communicate and lead multi‑disciplinary teams
  • Able to acquire and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) – Mechanical
  • Background in design and troubleshooting HVAC systems, controls, and/or electrical systems for complex facilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Sustainability and Life Safety systems
  • Knowledge of LEED certification requirements
  • Experience with controls, testing and balancing
  • Experience with Department of Defense (DOD) and mission critical facilities
