We are partnering with a nationally recognized Energy Services Contractor delivering large-scale sustainability and infrastructure upgrades across public, healthcare, and education facilities.
This firm works at the forefront of energy efficiency, commissioning, and building performance — modernizing complex facilities through data-driven engineering.
The RoleAs a Commissioning Engineer, you’ll support both new construction and retrofit commissioning projects from design review through functional testing and closeout. You’ll collaborate with owners and design teams to ensure systems perform as intended.
What You’ll Be Doing In the Office:- Review drawings and specifications to ensure design intent is met
- Review equipment submittals for compliance with project requirements
- Develop on-site testing plans
- Analyze trended field data and system performance
- Prepare clear, client-facing reports
- Support proposals, interviews, and business development efforts
- Lead and attend commissioning coordination meetings
- Perform functional testing of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Witness equipment startup and troubleshoot issues
- Work in active facilities, including rooftops and mechanical spaces
- Communicate effectively with contractors, architects, and facilities teams
- Travel overnight up to 20% as needed
- Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree (or equivalent military experience) in Engineering or related technical field
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in:
Commissioning (new construction or retrofit),
or Building Automation Systems (BAS) engineering - Adjacent backgrounds such as Design Engineering, MEP Coordination, or Controls Technician/Programmer with relevant project engineering experience will be considered
- ANSI-accredited commissioning certification (ASHRAE, BCA, or ACG)
- Proven troubleshooting experience with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Moderate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Ability to pass NCIC or client-required background checks
- Ability to pass initial and random drug testing
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
