The AUKUS, Submarines, and Industrial Base Group (ASIG), within the Sea, Land, Air Division, provides timely, objective, analytic assessments that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis to DRPM SUBS program offices and key stakeholders surrounding submarine construction, industrial base management and workforce development. DRPM SUBS unifies submarine program activities, which includes the Columbia-class SSBN program (the Navy's top acquisition priority), the Virginia-class SSN program, the new SSN-X program, and the AUKUS Pillar I trilateral conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarine program to bring improved capabilities to our undersea forces.

Analysts and Engineers supporting DPRM SUBS will continue SPA's decades of support to the SSBN force, as well as supporting oversight of cutting-edge attack submarine construction, assisting in developing the design requirements for the SSN platform of the future, and helping plan and execute new and innovative strategies to strengthen the critical submarine shipbuilding industrial base. These are high-profile, major acquisition and manufacturing programs of significant importance to the future capabilities of the US Navy in an era of renewed strategic competition.

Responsibilities The Senior Research and Development (R&D) Engineer will provide support to the Team Submarine SSN-X program, focusing on engineering support. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing new materials, technologies, and processes relevant to SSN-X development. This position includes technical support of program requirements, including collaborating with other science and engineer professionals, requirements development, and technical writing. This position is located at client site in Washington, DC Alexandria, VA with potential for light telework.

There is some opportunity for up to ~15% travel to partner and industry stakeholder locations. Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or other technical degree)
* 8+ years of R&D Engineering experience
* Active DoW SECRET security clearance
* Experience with USN submarine operations, design, construction, and/or other USN submarine support activities Desired

Qualifications:

* Technical Master's Degree
* 10+ years of R&D engineering experience
* Prior experience working in NAVSEA program acquistion office
