Senior Project Manager Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to plan and manage a large project within the DC Water Program. This role involves handling projects of moderate to high complexity, with accountability for construction management activities. The candidate will interpret plans and specifications for clients, contractors, and field personnel. Additionally, the role provides internal consultation to construction representatives and acts as a technical resource for other departmental groups.
A solid understanding of government and legal requirements is essential.
- Plan and manage large and complex projects within the DC Water Program.
- Oversee construction management activities and ensure project accountability.
- Interpret plans and specifications for clients, contractors, and field personnel.
- Provide internal consultation and act as a technical resource within the department.
- Contribute to the operations and administration of the construction services group as needed.
- Program management and construction expertise.
- High-level project management skills.
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in water or wastewater construction is highly valuable.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all project stakeholders.
- Technical leadership capabilities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, especially from DC.
- 10+ years of experience managing water design, water mains, water storage, water modeling, and water lift stations.
- 10+ years of program management experience specifically in water, wastewater, utilities, or VDOT.
The work environment consists of 90% office-based work and 10% site visits.
