Marketing Statement Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking an experienced Manager of Engineering in the Infrastructure/Facilities Department. The incumbent will lead and manage a team of engineers focusing on mechanical design and construction work that supports WMATA's Metrorail and Metrobus development programs. The role oversees engineering efforts related to the design of systems, resolution of field installation problems, and the review and quality control of design and construction documents, drawings, and contractor submittals.
The candidate should have thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including HVAC, fans, pumps, and plumbing systems; strong knowledge of mechanical system calculations; industry standards; and familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit, as well as relevant codes and regulations and federal and local laws. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer in at least one signatory jurisdiction (Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia) or the ability to acquire within one (1) year of hire and maintain for the duration of time in the job.

- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline
- A minimum of eight (8) years diversified experience in managing and administering large-scale programs for the applicable assigned engineering disciplines:
- Traction power or electrical engineering and construction programs as they apply to electrical power systems and/or heavy rail transit systems
- Mechanical engineering design and construction programs as they apply to rail and bus facilities and systems, including:
- Experience in technical management, systems integration
- Some supervisory experience
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or electrical power engineering or mechanical engineering
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in at least one of the WMATA signatory jurisdictions (Maryland, Virginia or the District of Columbia)
- Must acquire within one (1) year of hire and maintain for the duration of time in job
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, electrical power or Mechanical Engineering
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in at least one of the WMATA signatory jurisdictions (Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia)

SummaryThe Manager of Engineering leads and manages a team of engineers focusing on design and construction work that supports WMATA's Metrorail and Metrobus development programs. Essential Functions- Develops engineering plans, schedules and estimates for Metro's systems design and construction program; advises and coordinates with various staff within Metro.
- Provides overall direction for the resolution of engineering problems.
- Supervises the work of engineers engaged in design development and review and approval of design plans, shop drawings, technical analyses, and test documentation submitted to assure conformance with contract requirements.
- Manages the technical design and constructability reviews of proposed construction contracts and the final review of as-built drawings; provides staff comments on necessary contract specification and drawing improvements.
