- Description
*** Must have an active DOE Q clearance. Active, meaning the individual granted a clearance is briefed and currently occupies a position for which the clearance is required.
*** Leidos is seeking Project Engineering Professionals to support the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Defense Programs. These positions provide engineering and programmatic support to Federal Program Managers responsible for advancing portfolios of research, development, and technology maturation initiatives that underpin the safety, security, and effectiveness of the Nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile. Selected candidates will operate at the intersection of engineering analysis, portfolio management, and executive-level decision support within a high-visibility federal environment.

Depending on experience and program alignment, candidates may support one or more technical mission areas within Defense Programs. The role requires the ability to synthesize complex technical information, assess program performance, and translate engineering data into actionable insights for senior leaders. You will engage regularly with NNSA headquarters staff, site offices, national laboratories, production agencies, and interagency stakeholders to support program coordination, reporting, and strategic planning.

The successful candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, adaptable to evolving leadership priorities, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands and short-notice tasking. This is a full-time contractor-support position requiring on-site support at NNSA offices in Albuquerque, NM, with periodic travel requirements. Level and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Provide Federal Program Managers with clear, accurate, and timely engineering analyses to support programmatic decision-making.

* Monitor and assess technical progress, schedule performance, and deliverable execution across research and development portfolios.

* Track and manage Defense Programs, Department of Defense (DoD), and Congressional actions and inquiries impacting assigned programs.

* Respond to short-notice scenario analyses, data calls, and leadership inquiries from NNSA senior leadership and Departmental officials.

* Coordinate communications between NNSA headquarters, site offices, laboratories, and production agencies to address program and portfolio requirements.

* Develop program plans, executive briefings, reports, and issue papers outlining project outcomes, technical progress, and mission impact.

* Track and facilitate action items and deliverables to ensure timely submissions and effective program execution.

* Evaluate project performance relative to technical objectives, schedule milestones, quality standards, and negotiated metrics, and provide recommendations to Federal leadership.

* Support annual, quarterly, and recurring reporting requirements for program reviews, portfolio assessments, and senior-level meetings. Requirements:
* Active DOE Q clearance.

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related STEM field.

* Experience supporting engineering, research, development, technology maturation, or defense-related programs.

* Demonstrated ability to apply analytical skills to inform technical, strategic, or programmatic decisions.

* Experience working within federal, defense, national laboratory, or similarly complex technical environments.

* Strong organizational skills with high attention to accuracy and detail.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, high-visibility environment with competing priorities.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing materials for leadership review. If you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
