Primary Purpose

Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, and budgets associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Exelon’s electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company and to other business units or customers based on studies of company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities.

Reviews financial data from budgets and actual project costs. Operates independently and seeks guidance when appropriate. May require extended hours for coverage during storms or energy delivery emergencies.

Primary Duties
  • Performs engineering tasks for critical projects or multiple small projects with complex features.
  • Works in areas where engineering precedents are incomplete or broad experience is required.
  • Evaluates, develops and implements projects with moderate financial and operational impact.
  • May serve as an expert in a specific area, including the delivery of classroom training and/or on-the-job training.
  • Develops overhead and underground transmission engineering technical standards, procedures, bulletins, and drawings.
  • Develops stock codes and technical material evaluations for transmission system material.
  • Manages transmission asset information and data in multiple databases, including CMMS and work order systems.
  • Supports or leads transmission system equipment failure analysis or third-party engineering studies.
  • Supports or leads transmission engineering standards development initiatives across design and operational teams through collaboration, including stakeholder outreach and leadership reporting.
  • Supports business case development for transmission standards and asset management development.
Job Scope
  • Influences project decisions with moderate impact on the company, including leading employees or contractors in commissioning electrical systems and equipment to be placed On System.
  • Applies technical knowledge to promote a safe work environment and enhance customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer (2) (3)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory
  • Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices
  • Knowledge of complex field test equipment
  • 4-7 years of professional engineering experience
  • Broad knowledge of regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, practices and advanced engineering principles for very complex or unique assignments
  • Minimum of two related career experiences or Engineer in Training, or 50% complete with advanced technical degree, MBA or Project Management Certification

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree or graduate work in Engineering, Business Administration or Project Management Certification
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (2) (3)
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all management levels
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
