The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Industrial Technologies Office (ITO) accelerates the innovation and adoption of cost-effective technologies that position American industry to lead on the competitive stage in evolving global markets. ITO provides planning, management, and direction necessary for a balanced national program of research, development, demonstration, technical assistance, and workforce development to drive energy, materials, and production efficiency across the industrial sector.

About the Role:

The Industrial Technologies Office (ITO) is seeking an early- to mid-career candidate to support the innovation and adoption of technologies developed through federal programs. The role requires interacting closely with R&D projects that produce significant cost- and energy savings and improve the competitiveness of U.S industry. This candidate will serve as a Subject Matter Expert on electrochemical processes and will conduct extensive, informed analysis to develop R&D strategy, create solicitations for federally funded projects, and support a multimillion-dollar technical project portfolio.

The selected contractor will engage deeply in technical projects and activities, interacting with experts in academia, industry, and at the national labs.

Responsibilities:

  • R&D Strategy and Solicitation Development
    • Develop research and development (R&D) strategy through informed analysis of technical and market barriers and opportunities for electrochemical processes in manufacturing.
    • Lead the development of R&D solicitations to attract proposals aligned with strategic goals.
  • Provide active project management support on behalf of DOE for a multimillion-dollar technical project portfolio.
  • Engage with industry stakeholders and National Labs to support decisions, monitor progress, and ensure project objectives are met.
  • Data Analysis and Leadership Briefing
    • Interpret complex technical and financial data from multiple sources, including active projects and market trends.
    • Synthesize findings and presents clear, concise analyses and recommendations to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Technical Advising
    • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on electrochemical process technology, engaging with industry partners, academic institutions, and National Labs.
    • Provide technical guidance and fosters collaborations to advance DOE's mission in energy-intensive manufacturing sectors like chemicals and iron/steel production.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in inorganic chemistry or chemical engineering
