Electrical Engineer

Computational Physics, Inc. (CPI) is hiring an Electrical Engineer to support customers at the U.S. Naval Observatory, Washington DC
.

The U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO) creates, disseminates, and maintains precise time and navigation products for the Department of Defense and other customers. CPI seeks an Electrical Engineer with a satellite communications background to support two‑way satellite time transfer (TWSTT) and fiber time transfer (FTT) systems  engineer will design, implement, validate, and integrate TWSTT and FTT systems into the existing timing infrastructure.

Responsibilities include monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining these systems and researching new or improved time transfer methods.

Work will be performed on‑site at USNO in Washington, D.C.; travel within and outside the continental United States is required. An active SECRET clearance is required, and the candidate must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI clearance upon hiring.

• BS in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution
• Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals: circuit theory, power, RF, etc.
• RF and satellite communications theory
• RF system analysis and link budgets
• Experience with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers
• Python programming proficiency
• Active SECRET security clearance

• Experience with RF over fiber and optical link testing
• Familiarity with photonics

U.S. citizenship is required for DoD contracts.

Salary: $100,000 - $135,000 per year.
