The MCF (Mission Critical Facilities) Senior Electrical Engineer will guide the technical design of our data center projects as a subject matter expert, mentor, and resource to the technical team. The role delegates, leads, and directs the work of Project Engineers and Designers and conceptualizes, executes, and ensures quality throughout the design process to meet our clients’ needs and expectations. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will also have supervisor and mentor responsibilities for junior staff and serve as a resource to other project engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the business development team in new project pursuits by providing input on RFPs/RFQs and participate in project interviews and presentations.
  • Manage the technical project process and scope of work within own discipline; review and track scope, schedule, and budgeted hours; find and resolve all inconsistencies with the project manager.
  • Delegate tasks to project engineers and designers within own discipline as appropriate.
  • Follow the quality management process; conduct project reviews and approvals before all QA/QC reviews are done by the technical authority.
  • Build and maintain strong client relations; understand and articulate project and design requirements, progress, challenges, and troubleshooting to clients and technical staff.
  • Lead technical discussions and mechanical work groups with project stakeholders as a trusted advisor, identify key requirements, and adapt design accordingly to meet the project objectives.
  • Coordinate well with all disciplines to fully integrate work and client requests into design.
  • Act as supervisor and resource to the technical design team; support and assist staff education, training, and development.
  • Actively participate in the data center engineering/professional community to build personal knowledge, stay up‑to‑date with new and upcoming requirements and technologies, and strive for professional growth (e.g., attend meetings/seminars/conferences and/or write articles for trade magazines).
  • Identify opportunities to improve and standardize project deliverables (details, specifications, etc.) across Stantec MCF business centers.
  • Contribute to the development of design guides, technical memos, calculation templates, etc. as they pertain to data center design.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Extensive experience in mission critical / data center design concepts.
  • Experience working on large scale projects with varied stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices, concepts, principles, codes, and standards in own discipline and basic knowledge of practices and principals in other disciplines.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Able to conceptualize and develop solutions for multifaceted systems and interactions with varied disparate components.
  • Strong communicator who effectively conveys scope, schedule, and budget to clients, co‑workers, and technical teams (e.g., work plan, statement of work, and 2‑way communication).
  • Adept at writing comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Proficient in applicable software (Autodesk, BIM 360, Revit, Trace 700). Working knowledge or proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Pipe‑Flo) and CFD software (e.g., Fluent, 6

    Sigma) preferred.
  • Knowledge of the construction process and interaction with design.
  • Equipped to analyze, problem‑solve, and train others; organized and attentive to detail; flexible and collaborative.
  • Able to independently resolve complex problems within the engineer’s discipline.
Education and Experience
  • Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum 10 years related industry experience preferred.
  • Mission critical / data center experience required.
  • Registered professional engineer (PE) license or other professional certification based on expertise required.
Pay Range

Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas: $ – $ Annually
