Computational Physics, Inc. (CPI) is looking for an Electrical Engineer to support our customers at the U.S. Naval Observatory, Washington DC.
BackgroundThe U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO) is responsible for the creation, dissemination and maintenance of precise time and navigation products for the Department of Defense and other customers. CPI is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a background in satellite communications to support two-way satellite time transfer (TWSTT) and fiber time transfer (FTT) systems successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and performance validation of TWSTT and FTT systems and their integration into existing timing infrastructure.
The new Engineer will work with a team of engineers and technicians to monitor, troubleshoot and maintain these systems to ensure optimal performance, and investigate new approaches to time transfer as well as improvements to existing TWSTT and FTT techniques.
- BS in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- Knowledge of EE fundamentals: circuit theory, power, RF, etc.
- RF and satellite communications theory
- RF system analysis and link budgets
- Electronic test equipment, e.g. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers
- Python programming
- Active SECRET security clearance
- RF over fiber and optical link testing
- Familiarity with photonics
