CAD Supervisor

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a CAD Supervisor based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering design leadership and operational execution, overseeing a CAD team responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and models that support new product development and legacy product maintenance. The position plays a key role in ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of CAD outputs across the full product lifecycle. You will coordinate closely with product management, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to align design deliverables with business and customer needs.

The environment is fast-paced, detail-driven, and highly collaborative, requiring strong organizational discipline and technical fluency. Beyond managing daily workload, the role contributes to process improvement, metric tracking, and CAD system integrity. It is well-suited for a hands-on leader who thrives in structured, performance-oriented engineering environments.

Accountabilities
  • Lead and develop a CAD team responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining technical drawings and 3D models across new and legacy products, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Manage daily task allocation, workload prioritization, and scheduling to ensure deadlines for new product introductions and engineering changes are consistently met.
  • Oversee engineering change management (ECM) and document control processes to ensure timely and accurate release of product documentation.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance metrics related to CAD output quality, productivity, and workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure strict adherence to CAD standards, tools, and internal procedures while driving consistency across all design deliverables.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and other departments to support product development and lifecycle management activities.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and performance management of CAD team members to build technical capability and accountability.
  • Contribute to process improvements and the development of new workflows in collaboration with leadership to enhance CAD operations.
  • Maintain CAD content integrity across the product lifecycle, ensuring high-quality outputs in support of business and customer requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field preferred; equivalent CAD experience (10+ years) may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of experience managing or supervising CAD teams in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD tools and environments, including Solid Works and PDM systems.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), ERP systems, and engineering documentation control processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to track, analyze, and report operational metrics and team performance indicators.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and collaboration platforms such as SharePoint and Smartsheet.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities under deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and guide technical teams effectively.
  • High attention to detail, reliability, and a strong sense of ownership and accountability in delivering high-quality work.
Benefits
  • Competitive annual salary of approximately $109,000.
  • Full-time, salaried position with exempt status.
  • Flexible remote or hybrid work arrangements within the United States.
  • Opportunity to lead a technical CAD team within a global engineering organization.
  • Exposure to advanced engineering systems, including Solid Works, PDM, and PLM environments.
  • Career development opportunities in engineering leadership and operations management.
  • Collaborative, cross-functional work environment supporting global product innovation.
