RF Engineer

Working across the globe, V2X builds smart solutions designed to integrate physical and digital infrastructure from base to battlefield. We bring 120 years of successful mission support to improve security, streamline logistics, and enhance readiness. Aligned around a shared purpose, our $3.9B company and 16,000 people work alongside our clients, here and abroad, to tackle their most complex challenges with integrity, respect, responsibility, and professionalism.

V2X is hiring a part-time RF Engineer to provide support at the Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River. The candidate would support acquisition programs in proceeding through the equipment spectrum certification process to enable the legal radiation of spectrum dependent systems. The process includes creating Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments (SSRA), developing equipment spectrum certification packages using NTIA software tools like EL-CID/online, working with the Navy Marine Corps Spectrum Center (NMSC), obtaining J/F 12's, assisting in the spectrum assignment process within the US&P and for Host Nation Coordination (HNC).

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise to the engineering team regarding EMC and the electromagnetic spectrum for Navy/Marine Corp spectrum dependent systems. This includes air/land/sea based systems.
  • Navigate multiple spectrum and frequency allocation databases to find information on systems of interest and apply this information to various platforms.
  • Research and evaluate spectrum dependent system and equipment characteristics along with performance criteria.
  • Review the intended use of the equipment and determine and assess its conformance to applicable spectrum standards as defined in the NTIA Manual. Develop spectrum certification requests and submit to NMSC for review and submission to NTIA and/or MC4EB.
  • Calculate link budgets and perform coupling analysis to identify operating capabilities and feasibilities of DoD and other spectrum dependent systems and develop EMC techniques to mitigate EMI.
  • Perform and document Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments (SSRA) s for DoD acquisition programs at various stages of development.

Additional Duties (as required):

  • Support business development efforts as required to include seeking growth opportunities.
  • Support proposal efforts to include writing responses to requests for proposals (RFP) and/or participating in review teams.

  • Experience in the operation and evaluation of communications, combat systems, electronic warfare systems, navigation aids, and other spectrum-dependent systems, with the ability to conduct analytical evaluation of systems' RF compatibility and develop frequency plans for operational use.
  • Experience in conducting spectrum EMI/EMC evaluations, performing engineering analyses to predict and define spectrum EMI problems, define/design corrective measures, and operational implementation of systems within the DoD.
  • Experience in developing and updating spectrum documentation, operational publications, position papers, white papers, and briefings relating to spectrum considerations and use.

Specific

Experience:

  • 3+ years in the following:
    • Testing, modeling or evaluating Spectrum Dependent Systems.
    • RF System Capabilities Analysis
    • Systems Integration
    • Spectrum Policy
    • General RF and electronic technology experience required.
    • EMI, EMC, RF Engineering, or Spectrum Management

Desired

Experience:

  • Experience in developing spectrum certification following the NTIA Manual of Regulations. Preferably for airborne platforms to include radars, communications systems (terrestrial and space), and EW systems.
  • Knowledge of systems utilizing the 960-1215MHz frequency band to include IFF interrogators, transponders and test sets, TCAS and transponders. Familiarity with the AIMS PO and the associated requirements.

Skills:

  • Equipment Spectrum Certification and related National Spectrum Policies
  • RF analysis and report development. Understanding current DoD spectrum related systems and evaluating compliance to national spectrum standards.
