Operations Engineering Manager (SMT)
The Operations Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing the work of designing, developing, deploying and optimizing processes for manufacturing to achieve quality cost and delivery goals for Celestica and its customers products. Detailed description includes responsibilities such as understanding the customers technical roadmap and identifying and managing all new customer-specific process development projects. The role also involves managing technical aspects for all new customer-specific process development projects, developing the scope of all technical work, coordinating the team, directing work assignments and assisting with problem resolution for the full customer product life cycle support for all manufacturing technical issues related to the customers product(s) from product conception to product obsolescence.
The Operations Engineering Manager is also responsible for evaluating potential manufacturing impact for each design concept, developing best practice standards, participating in industry organizations for developing the standards and providing training and application support globally. The role sets yearly plans and goals for their department, gives direction on expected performance, provides regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback, and is accountable for all department objectives and achieving agreed targets for key performance indicators.
Knowledge/skills/competencies include project management, leadership, financial acumen/business planning, coaching/mentoring, communication/negotiation/presentation, creative problem solving, customer interaction/stakeholder management, quality & lean, working effectively with others, D/PFMEA, 8D/corrective action, equipment safety, and design of experiments (DOE). Typical experience includes a minimum of 10 years of related experience, experience in similar job roles, and understanding of SMT process. Typical education is a bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
