Position: Electrical Engineer – Robotics [33359]

Creates novel robotic devices for diverse applications in medical, military, and scientific research fields. Participates in all aspects of design from requirements analysis, architecture definition, design, circuit capture, layout, manufacturing, testing, and documentation. Design aspects may range from interfacing with sensors and communication buses, power supplies and power management, brushless motor control electronics as well as microcontrollers, DSPs, and microprocessors for controlling robotic devices.

Must be comfortable with hands-on debugging that spans the mechanical, electrical, and control system domains typical of robotic systems. Translates objectives to results and deliverables with little oversight and direction. Leads electronics development projects of moderate to high complexity. Works in a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Design electronics for robotic systems.

Communication protocols: RS232/422/485, CAN Bus, USB, Ethernet/GigE, SPI, I2C, Bluetooth.

Analog and digital circuit design.

MCUs, DSPs, ARM processors, SoCs/SOMs.

AC/DC & DC/DC power supplies, battery systems, brushless motor control electronics.

Cable and wiring harness design.

Hardware testing, debugging, and documentation.

Familiarity with Altium, SPICE, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and embedded system debugging.

Requirements

3–7 years of relevant experience.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (Master's preferred).

Experience with EMI/EMC design and testing.

PCB design and mechanical integration.

Military standard testing is a plus.

Experience with C/C++, FPGA/CPLD, VHDL/Verilog preferred.

Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
