Duties
- You will conceive, plan, develop, analyze, and lead far-reaching policy studies or projects.
- You will develop white papers and other authoritative documents which may result in publication or recommendation of major changes in the National Nuclear Security Administration policy or program direction.
- You will resolve controversial, unprecedented, and/or significant scientific/engineering problems/issues.
- You will lead ad-hoc teams comprised of leading scientists and engineers in government and the private sector in the participation of such studies.
- You will serve at the direction of senior management in a technical advisory capacity, and as personal representative in meetings, panels, task forces, and conferences.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR .
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the BN-03 pay band (GS-13 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as s professional engineer applying knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of naval nuclear propulsion, mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering applicable to the full range of engineering duties concerned with the administration, management, planning, and evaluation of contractor activities involving health and safety precautions, propulsion plant design changes or ship construction.
