General Engineer - Electrical T&S Standard Ownership

General Engineer

The General Engineer leads and supports engineering efforts across Exelon's utility infrastructure, including electric or gas distribution, transmission, substations, and related systems. This role requires a broad understanding of utility operations and involves developing engineering solutions, managing technical deliverables, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

Work can include:

• Leading electric, gas, and/or communications system performance evaluations and outage analysis
• Driving initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency
• Managing budgeting and cost estimation for engineering projects
• Coordinating across departments and with external stakeholders
• Overseeing field inspections and resolving technical issues

May be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Primary duties and accountabilities include:

• Performing engineering assignments of moderate complexity, exercising independent judgment under the guidance of experienced engineers
• Leading small engineering projects or tasks, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure technical requirements and standards are met
• Providing technical support and consultation to engineering and operating groups, assisting in the design, installation, and maintenance of systems and equipment
• Participating in the evaluation and improvement of technical systems and processes, contributing to project planning and implementation, and may assign and review work as needed

This job is in the newly formed T&S System Protection Compliance group. The main responsibilities include:

• Acting as a requirement owner for NERC PRC and CIP standards
• Reviewing evidence associated with assigned standards
• Creating RSAWs and performing internal self assessments for assigned standards
• Designing and testing controls for assigned standard requirements
• Supporting audits of assigned standards
• Influencing project decisions having a significant impact on the company
• Applying technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction

Preferred qualifications include:

• Graduate degree or graduate level work in Engineering, Business Administration or Project Management Certification
• Possess Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification and/or Professional Engineer license
• Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all management levels
• Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills, report generation & technical writing skills
• A working knowledge of analysis software packages such as CYMDIST, Python, Power BI, Aspen Relay Database, Aspen Oneliner or similar
